[Register Here!] About the Event City Club’s Health & Public Safety Committee regularly meets to explore ways to be a part of the solutions to local public health and safety issues like: gaps in mental health and substance use care, homelessness, community violence, and crime. At their April meeting, members will hear from Andy Mendenhall, President and CEO of Central City Concern, and Michelle Milla, part of a work group focused on establishing guardrails and coordination for syringe service programs. About the Speakers Dr. Andy Mendenhall joined Central City Concern in 2017 as Senior Medical Director for Substance Use Disorder Services, becoming Chief Medical Officer in 2018, overseeing all medical and clinical services, as well as promoting ethical and quality care. Today, as President and CEO, Dr. Andy Mendenhall oversees all aspects of CCC. Andy is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine. He graduated from the University of Portland and trained as a medical student and resident family physician at OHSU. Michelle Milla is a community organizer and Webster University graduate who co-founded Stadiumhood, a Northwest Portland initiative focused on livability and civic systems change. With a background in anthropology, she brings a resident-level lens to conversations about how public health systems and neighborhoods can work together more effectively. She is also part of a cross-sector work group advancing SB 1573, a state legislative effort aimed at establishing guardrails and coordination around syringe service programs.
