It Is Better to Be Wealthy & Healthy Than Poor & Ill (1992) (Church of Film)

Nona is a Slovak photojournalist and dissident, Ester is a Czech nurse and the mistress of a politician. When the Velvet Revolution splits the country and brings capitalism, the two women hit hard times and move in together. They try out everything from erotic photography to robbery, trying to stay afloat in their hardluck world—and the men aren’t helping. IT IS BETTER TO BE WEALTHY & HEALTHY THAN POOR & ILL is Juraj Jakubisko’s madcap, Magic Realist statement on the Velvet Revolution; a hilarious, bittersweet, joyous and tragic circus of two girlfriends Bonnie and Clyding their way in a race to the bottom.
