The player queue is now filterable by genre — pills along the top let you jump straight to Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass, Synth, or any genre in the current queue. Amber/glowing pills flag genres that have upcoming shows this week. The active pill snaps to match the playing track automatically as the queue advances — no click needed.
A dashed + genre pill at the end of the genre strip opens an inline suggestion box. Type any genre and submit — suggestions land in the admin queue where they can be accepted (applying the genre to the track) or rejected in one click. Community-powered tagging without requiring an account.
A nightly background pipeline auto-builds artist profiles from public music APIs — no API keys required for most sources. Last.fm fills in bio, MusicBrainz ID, listener counts, and similar artists. ListenBrainz adds genre (weighted by real listen counts), website, Instagram, YouTube, and city from MB relations. MusicBrainz fills social links and verifies location. Artists can set Enrichment Locked in the admin if the auto-data doesn't fit — all commands respect that flag.
A weekly job queries MusicBrainz's area index for artists tagged to Portland, OR — over 2,600 in the index. New names are automatically created as stub profiles and fed into the enrichment pipeline. Artists already in the database get their MusicBrainz ID back-filled if it was missing. No manual curation needed to grow the local artist library.
Every event detail page now surfaces a Videos section showing YouTube clips from all the performing artists and crews. Click a thumbnail to play it inline — no tab switch. Admins can also paste a YouTube playlist URL on any event (a label's set list, a promoter's recap reel) and it embeds as a full 16:9 player above the artist grid. Only videos with embedding enabled appear — Error 153 is filtered at harvest time.
The global search bar now stays in the header at all screen widths where the icon strip is still showing — icons collapse to the drawer first. Search is also now visible on the map view, where it was previously hidden. On mobile (≤768px) search moves into the slide-out drawer as before.
The 🌹 button in the header opens a live shelter and resource guide — warming centers, cooling centers, emergency shelters, hotlines, and mutual aid. Filterable by category, sortable by distance. Includes a map view with pins for every location. On extreme heat, cold, or smoke days the weather bubble pulses orange as a community alert.
A compact event card carousel sits above the music player — rotating through tonight's events every 10 seconds. Tap ‹ › to browse manually. Tap the card to expand details inline without leaving the page. Artist names flash when their track plays.
Drag the pill handle at the top of the player bar to collapse it to a slim track-name strip — reclaims screen space without stopping playback. Swipe or tap again to expand. State persists across pages. The resource hub auto-collapses the player when opened and restores it when closed.
On small screens, nav icons collapse behind a + toggle button. Tap to slide open a tidy drawer with all tools — shelter hub, map, submit, Discord, bug reports, and more — no cramped scroll strip.
The map autopilot and event rotator strip are now in sync — when autopilot drives to a venue, the rotator card snaps to that same event. Green dotted GPS routes are preserved throughout.
Weather now includes real-time PM2.5 air quality from Open-Meteo. During smoke events the weather bubble pulses orange and the shelter hub flags smoke-safe cooling centers automatically.
The scrolling banner now shows unique visitor count and average daily visits — a live pulse on how many Portlanders are using the calendar. Ticker speed scales with content length so every page scrolls at a consistent pace.
Your public profile is a music EPK — connect Last.fm, ListenBrainz, and Discogs to unlock live listening cards. Every track is clickable: it plays in the Community Playlist corner player without leaving the page. Hit ⇄ Shuffle All to build a mixed queue from your YouTube channel, top Last.fm tracks, and recent ListenBrainz listens all at once — then 💾 Save Playlist to pin it under your handle. Add a YouTube channel or handle as a link on your profile and it becomes an interactive card — browse Videos and Playlists tabs inline. Click a video to play it in the CP player, or click a playlist to expand all videos and queue them. No redirects, no leaving the page.
Connect your music service usernames in Profile Settings. Last.fm shows your top tracks of the month. ListenBrainz shows recent listens and refreshes live every 30 seconds while you're on the page. The site header, nav strip, and filter bar now stay pinned to the top of the screen as you scroll — no more chasing the menu back up the page on mobile.
The search box is always visible. Tap ⊕ to slide out genre, category, neighborhood, date, and distance filters. Collapses cleanly when you're done — no wasted screen real estate.
Add Community Playlist to your home screen from any mobile browser. Opens full-screen, no browser chrome, with a custom icon and splash screen — feels like a native app.
Phones always start in list view, even if you'd previously used map or hybrid on desktop. The view selector stays accessible in the sticky filter bar. Switching to map view snaps cleanly to the correct height.
The music and video player bar is fixed to the bottom of the screen on all devices. Artist names in the player are now clickable links to their full profile.

Artists, venues, and promoters can connect a Twitch channel. When they go live, their stream surfaces at the top of the queue — live badge and viewer count included.
