The evening begins with a panel discussion at Blackfish Gallery (938 NW Everett St) from 5:30–7:00 PM, featuring participating artists and community leaders in conversation about the importance of investing in contemporary Black artists and creative practice. Guests are then invited to continue the celebration at Studio 516 Gallery (516 NW 14th Ave) from 5:00–9:00 PM for an evening of art, live music, food, and community gathering. City Club is sponsoring refreshments and the recording of the panel. About the Exhibit Curated by Tammy Jo Wilson, Co-Founder of Art in Oregon, since its inception in 2020, BLACK MATTER showcases contemporary work by Oregon-based Black artists, offering space for artists to express what is in their hearts and minds, free from the expectation that their work must be about race or racism.
