Summary: Meson is the new build system on the stack and is an alternative to tools such as Autotools and CMake. Since its release in 2013 a number of large software projects such as X.org, Mesa3D, and SystemD have adopted it as their build system of choice. In this talk, I will provide an introduction to Meson by explaining how it works and what makes it different from other build systems. For developers this may be useful when choosing how to set up your next project. For users I will explain how Meson makes it easier for you to configure, build, and install your favorite FOSS projects. Bio: I am a Support Technician and Desktop Linux User who has been compiling software from source for 26 years. You can usually find me working on some random Linux hobby project or filling in for PLUG Talks when we can't find a speaker.
