Romeo + Juliet
Romeo + Juliet (1996) Directed by Baz Luhrmann. 2hrs. Rated PG-13. Catch Romeo + Juliet—the hyper-kinetic Shakespearean romantic tragedy updated for a new generation, as part of ScreenPLAY!, a new series that invites kids, teens, and families of all ages into PAM CUT @ The Whitsell. “Romeo + Juliet is one of pure feeling, a flame burning fast and clean. Movies are neither made nor received in a vacuum, and they have a life beyond what we can initially imagine for them. That’s why so many of today’s grown-ups who saw Romeo + Juliet as kids will never forget it. And that is how a play lives forever, reinvented again and again across the centuries, even as its bones and its heart remain intact.” – Time Magazine ScreenPLAY! is PAM CUT @ The Whitsell’s kids, teens, and family monthly program – sharing cinematic art for all ages. We do not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films, and films exhibited don’t necessarily reflect the views of PAM CUT or the Portland Art Museum. In addition to the synopses, trailers, and other links on our website, further information about content and age-appropriateness for specific films can be found on sites like Common Sense Media, IMDb, and DoesTheDogDie.com.
