Star 80 x Director Fits

Star 80 (1983) Directed by Bob Fosse. 1hr 43min. Rated R. Star 80 is presented by Director Fits as part of a series on Fashion and Film. A disturbing, beautiful, and haunting film about the rise-and-fall of Dorthy Stratten.  “Four stars! An important movie. Devastating, violent, hopeless, and important, because it holds a mirror up to a part of the world we live in, and helps us see it more clearly.” – Roger Ebert Director Fits is a media platform focusing on the everyday sartorial decisions of filmmakers. We believe that directors are an often overlooked group of impeccably well-dressed artists making bold choices when it comes to clothing. We focus on their personal style, the practical garments they wear while they work, their buttoned-up red carpet looks, and so much more. We dive deep into the thought process of a director’s view on clothing and how it affects them as well as their films. We do not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films, and films exhibited don’t necessarily reflect the views of PAM CUT or the Portland Art Museum. In addition to the synopses, trailers, and other links on our website, further information about content and age-appropriateness for specific films can be found on sites like Common Sense Media, IMDb, and DoesTheDogDie.com.
