West Side Story

West Side Story (1961) Directed by Jerome Robbins, Robert Wise. 2hr 33min. Not Rated. Catch the color drenched and abstract design of West Side Story (1961), as part of our film series Pretty, Witty and Gay—in conversation with the David Hockney exhibition. Hockney publicly acknowledged one of his favorite songs—America—comes from the West Side Story soundtrack, and the film’s technicolor world seems to reverberate throughout his work.   We do not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films, and films exhibited don’t necessarily reflect the views of PAM CUT or the Portland Art Museum. In addition to the synopses, trailers, and other links on our website, further information about content and age-appropriateness for specific films can be found on sites like Common Sense Media, IMDb, and DoesTheDogDie.com.
